Dr. Pan joined School of Software, Sun Yat-Sen University in July 2007. He received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Software and Theory from Sun Yat-sen University, under the supervision of Prof. Yong Tang. He was a visiting research fellow at Learning and Vision Research Group at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore, directed by Prof.Shuicheng Yan.

Dr. Pan's research interests mainly focus on machine learning and information retrieval, including hashing methods, deep learning, low-rank/sparse matrices, learning-to-rank.

获奖及荣誉: 

<p>Yan Pan was a team member of winning the <a href="http://pascallin.ecs.soton.ac.uk/challenges/VOC/voc2012/workshop/">object classification task in PASCAL VOC Challenge</a>, in a joint team with National University of Singapore and Panasonic Singapore Laboratories.</p>

<p>Yan Pan was in the fourth place of the <a href="http://www.kaggle.com/c/MerckActivity">Merck Molecular Activity Challenge</a> held by <a href="http://www.kaggle.com">Kaggle</a> (with Rongkai Xia, Jiefei Li, Hanjiang Lai and Lei Du).</p>

<p>Yan Pan's graduate student, Rongkai Xia, was in the second place in <a href="http://2013.icome.org.cn/subjects/10">the competition of "»ðÑÛ½ð¾¦-¿ìËÙʶ±ðÈËÏñ"</a> held by Baidu, which is one of the tasks in "2013ÖйúÔÆ-Òƶ¯»¥ÁªÍø´´Ð´óÈü". The system is based on the convolutional deep neural networks.</p>
